What is maib business?
maib business is the most advanced and widely used banking application in the Republic of Moldova with over 20 000 active users, designed to simplify financial management for businesses. It provides access to a wide range of services within the platform, along with tools for account management and transactions. The app combines efficiency, security, and convenience to support business.



My Role
Outdated Technology and Design
The old application was outdated both technically and in terms of design. It struggled to meet the evolving needs of businesses, lacking the necessary features and modern user interface to support efficient operations. The outdated technology also caused performance issues, making the user experience frustrating and hindering productivity.
Inefficient Payment Flow
The payment flow in the old app was inefficient, resulting in a high number of declined transactions. This poor user experience led to significant frustration among customers, as they were unable to complete essential financial operations smoothly. The issues with payment processing not only affected user satisfaction but also led to a loss of trust in the platform.
Lack of Digital Solutions
The absence of digital solutions meant that businesses had to rely on visiting bank branches and dealing with physical paperwork for many banking tasks. This traditional approach was time-consuming, inefficient, and inconvenient, especially for businesses looking for quicker, more flexible solutions in managing their finances. There was a clear need for a fully digital platform to streamline these processes.
Agile Workflow Behind maib business
A step-by-step workflow leveraging Agile methodology to ensure efficient collaboration, user-focused design, and iterative development. From brainstorming and prototyping to user testing and release, every stage is designed to deliver a scalable product.
In-Depth User Studies
To ensure the product meets user needs, we conducted comprehensive interviews, meetups with SMEs, and surveys. These methods helped us understand daily challenges, common frustrations, and expectations of our users. This user-centric approach allowed us to gather actionable insights and adress specific pain points, ensuring maib business would deliver an intuitive and efficient experience tailored to its audience.
Business Alignment
A successful product requires clear business goals. We held detailed discussions with stakeholders to define key objectives and ensure the design aligned with both business priorities and user expectations. This collaboration helped us establish a solid roadmap for the project, prioritizing features that would bring maximum value while maintaining the strategic vision of maib business.

Action Optimization
Many users, when working with the previous versions of the platform and other products, faced difficulties when performing repetitive tasks such as payments and generating statements. To address this, a group payment feature was introduced, enabling users to efficiently complete multiple actions simultaneously. Additionally, the ability to generate statements in multiple languages and formats was added, greatly enhancing the overall usability of the platform.
Transparency for Users
One of the most critical pain points was the lack of transparency in financial transactions. Specifically, users found it difficult to view accurate payment amounts and hidden fees. In the context of the Moldovan market, where transparency is highly valued, these issues caused significant user dissatisfaction. To resolve this, the decision was made to clearly display all amounts and fees, ensuring that users had full visibility into their transactions and financial costs.
Simplification of Financial Interfaces
Many users perceive financial applications as complex and unintuitive, requiring careful and error-free interactions. To break this bias, an intuitive and responsive interface was developed, minimizing the chances of user errors. Additionally, features such as easy payment reversal were implemented, allowing users to quickly correct mistakes and continue their tasks without stress.
Design System
The initial design system for maib business Platform’s MVP was limited and inflexible. I improved it by defining clear design principles, building a scalable component library, and implementing Figma for collaboration. The enhanced system ensured consistency, efficiency, and WCAG compliance, becoming a strong foundation for the platform’s growth.

Securely log in to the platform with your credentials to access your business accounts. The login process is designed to be fast and secure, with two-factor authentication (2FA) for additional security, ensuring your business data remains protected.
Multi-Company Access
maib business allows users to manage multiple companies within a single account. This feature is ideal for business owners or financial managers who need to monitor and operate the accounts of various entities from one central location, simplifying account management
Account Overview
The platform provides a comprehensive overview of all business accounts, displaying account balances and transaction history. This feature allows users to quickly check the financial status of different accounts and make informed decisions on the fly.
Payment Management
Users can create and sign payments directly through the platform, including domestic payments, inter-account transfers, and foreign exchange transactions. The system is designed to make business transactions seamless, fast, and secure, with intuitive tools for processing payments and managing financial workflows.
Scheduled Payments
The platform allows you to schedule future payments, ensuring that all bills and financial obligations are met on time. You can easily view and manage a list of scheduled payments, making it easier to maintain cash flow and prevent late payments.
Stay updated with real-time exchange rates for multiple currencies and perform instant currency conversions. This tool is valuable for businesses dealing with international transactions or those needing to make quick currency decisions.
Card Management
Manage business cards directly through the platform, including issuing, and tracking card usage. The platform allows businesses to streamline employee card management, track expenses, and ensure better control over company finances.
Salary Payments
Easily manage salary payments for employees, making mass payments or individual transfers. The platform ensures quick and secure processing of payroll, reducing administrative burden and providing detailed payment history for employees.
